Warsaw, 5th October 2009 - Starting from 16th November 2009 LOT Polish Airlines re-launch service to Kaliningrad. Ticket sales start today. Flights to Kaliningrad will be operated daily. Apart from the direct service, passengers flying to and from Kaliningrad will have access to convenient flight connections via Warsaw to major European destinations.

"The situation on the airline market is changing rapidly. In the face of fierce competition, we need to react quickly to all market signals and use every opportunity to strengthen our position," says Sebastian Mikosz, President and CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. "As soon as we received the news that KD Avia Airlines, which used to operate flights to and from Kaliningrad, had suspended operations, we decided to re-launch service between Warsaw and Kaliningrad so as to take over the passengers and provide them with a fast and convenient connection with Poland's capital as well as major West European cities via the Warsaw airport."

In 2002-2008 LOT Polish Airlines operated flights to Kaliningrad but last September this service was suspended due to low profitability. The cessation of operations of KD Avia (the last flight from Moscow to Kaliningrad was flown on 8th September) provided LOT with a chance to regain this market and win new customers.

The flights to Kaliningrad will be operated by ATR 72 and ATR 42 aircraft.
