Медиагруппа КОНТИНЕНТ выступила спонсором благотворительной акции, проведенной Театром «Аудиториум» при поддержке городских властей. Это мероприятие было приурочено к завершению летнего лагеря для детей, потерявших родителей.

July 15, 2009, Chicago, the Hands Together, Heart to Art campers had an opportunity to write one last message to their deceased parents and tie them to balloons. The campers and counselors then walked to Buckingham Fountain, where emotionally filled campers release their balloons with notes attached for parents they lost.

The camp was founded by the Auditorium Theatre’s Executive Director, Brett Batterson who himself experienced the same grief and having lost his father to a heart attack at a young age of 7.

This camp as ones remarked by Brett allows children to grieve and to deal with their emotions via support from other children and qualified counselors. Brett, as a child, having suffered through much of the same loss without a great deal of support from his peers and counselors; realized a need for this camp which he later founded.

The camp’s objective is to provide a safe environment for children to have an opportunity to heal through creative play with their peers having endured a similar loss.

This is a fifth year for the camp situated at Roosevelt University. Children between the ages of 7 – 14 are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis through churches, community groups and schools. The children are availed with an opportunity to experience music, dance, acting, juggling, along with therapeutic sessions where they share their feelings.

Kontinent Media was invited to cover this event as a representative of the Russian-American community. Market Development Director for Kontinent Media Group, Leonard Mogul, stated “upon learning of this camp; I simply had to get involved. To me extending a helping hand whether via a donation, print coverage, or coming to Roosevelt University to help inflating the balloons was a way for me to contribution to this phenomenal philanthropic cause. “We at Kontinent really strive to bring the communities together!” noted Mr. Mogul.

We encourage you to get involved by supporting this phenomenal cause. For more information or to see a video about camp, visit hthta.org or call 312.922.2110 ext. 353
